Validation error hover text not displaying on listgrids in expanded rows.

At first glance this issue may appear to be the same as http://forums.smartclient.com/showthread.php?p=111545#post111545, and indeed I suppose it may be related.

However, even with the latest libraries this issue is present and may easily be seen in the SmartClient showcase without making any modifications.

For the record, though, we are currently using "v8.3p_2013_12_17/PowerEdition Deployment". We are observing this behavior in FireFox and Chrome - we have not tested in IE.

The problem is that hover text for validation errors is not reliably showing as a tooltip when hovering over the (!) icon. To see this, do the following:

- Go to the showcase sample at http://www.smartclient.com/#customExpansionComponent.
- Expand Blu-Tack and double click to edit the record.
- Clear the "Item" value and click "Save".
- Hover over the (!) icon - "Field is required" displays.
- Move the cursor into the whitespace of the expansion grid.
- Hover over the (!) icon - hover text does NOT display.
- Move the cursor to exit the expansion grid and enter from the right edge to hover over the (!) icon - hover text does display.
- Move the cursor into the whitespace of the expansion grid.
- Hover over the (!) icon - hover text does NOT display.
- Move the cursor to exit the expansion grid and enter from the left edge to hover over the (!) icon - hover text does NOT display.
- Move the cursor to exit the expansion grid and enter from the bottom edge to hover over the (!) icon - hover text does display.
- Move the cursor to exit the expansion grid and enter from the top edge to hover over the (!) icon - hover text does NOT display.
- Using the thumbwheel, scroll the list up so that white space of the expansion grid intersects with the bottom edge of the main grid.
- Move the cursor to exit the expansion grid and enter from the bottom edge to hover over the (!) icon - hover text does display.

I'm sure you get the gist...

And here's the usual question - is it possible to have any fix made for this issue backpatched into the v8.3 libraries? We have one major project not yet ready to make the transition to the newer libraries, although we are working towards that end.

Gary O'Donnell
