Odd behavior when moving minimized portlets

I’ve been trying to display a set of portlets within a portal layout but I’ve noticed that the portlets don’t seem to behave themselves properly if they are moved to another column when they are minimized. In the following examples from the showcase, if you minimize a portlet and move it to its own row in another column, a large white space appears below the portlet.

In all of the other portal layout examples, if you minimize a portlet, move it to its own row in another column, and then restore the portlet, the portlet is restored but is too small to see any of its content.
