MaskDateSeparator for MiniDateRangeItem?

Is there a way to get a MiniDateRangeItem to behave like DateItem in terms of the way a user imputs the date? Our customer is spoilt and will not punch the divider: /

Pseudo code:
miniDateRangeItem.setMaskDateSeparator("/")
