Correct way to handle german umlaut in datasources

Hi,

The data in database contains german umlaut like ü,ö. When I retrieve those values the text is wrong in selectitems and textitems. Database is DB2 with codeset IBM-1252 which i cant change.

What is the best way to get the correct display for the values from the database?
