DsRequest getHttpServletRequest method returns null - DynamicDSGenerator

We are using DynamicDSGenerator to load the datasource files dynamically and in the getDatasource method of the implementation class of DynamicDSGenerator , the dsRequest.getHttpServletRequest() returning null in smartclient 9.0 whereas in 8.3 i get the request. Could you please let me know if this right way to get the httpServletRequest in version 9.0

smartclient version i am using : SmartClient_v90p_2013-08-21_Evaluation
