you can reproduce the following problem with "Simple Timeline" example in the 4.1 showcase. I use the current version of SmartGWT/SmartClient Version v9.1p_2014-11-12 (2014-11-12).
In the "Simple Timeline" example change the event "NewSamples" in the lane "Tamara Kane". Set the start date to "05/08/2012 00:00" and the end date to "07/18/2012 23:59" and save the event.
The lane of "Tamara Kane" is now to long and the scrollbar shows more room. (see attached Snapshot).
