ListGrid RowSpan with Coloum values

Sir,

Can you please let me know how to set row span in ListGrid, if coloum has same values?

According to other posts, I need to override getRowSpan method, but I am not clear when I need to override this method. By how, I will come to know whether the next coloum have same value.

Please advice.
