Databound ComboBox Update recommendation

I would like to have a databound combobox perform a fetch everytime a user clicks the show picklist button. How do you recommend implementing this, I was not able to find a flag that would help me accomplish this.

We are currently using - SmartClient Version: v9.1p_2014-07-20/Pro Deployment (built 2014-07-20)
